History meets the present

Unimog Club Hochrhein/Südschwarzwald visits the Schmidt factory

The Hochrhein/Südschwarzwald regional group of the Unimog Club Gaggenau set off for St. Blasien on 16 November. Partly on the road with historic Unimog vehicles, the tour first led to the Schmidt factory. Regional group leader Andreas Falk, deputy Henning Piram and 20 other members were welcomed by Matthias Schweizer, foreman in the testing/prototyping department and himself a club member. During the tour of the company, the guests were able to take a look behind the scenes and see for themselves the modern production of sweepers and jet sweepers. Thomas Berger, Managing Director of Aebi Schmidt Deutschland GmbH, also provided insights into production processes and the current business year. A visit to the well-protected, Schmidt-owned VF 1 snow blower on a Unimog 411 from 1955 was also on the agenda. Afterwards, the journey led to Bernau to the Kurhaus where the participants were already awaited by the former company owner Alfred Schmidt (95) for a drink and interesting anecdotes about the history of Schmidt and the cooperation with Unimog. All in all, a successful meeting of history and the present. It was a pleasure for us to welcome the Unimog Club Gaggenau.
