The highly efficient Schmidt ASC 990 combination equipment to the airport’s latest Scania truck is the 300th example of its type, a special sweeping machine for aircraft parking positions. At the airport the keys to the anniversary machine were handed over. The Schmidt ASC 990 is specially tailored to the needs of airport Stansted. Thus, the machine is equipped with a front mounted high volume water spray bar. Additionally, high pressure roto nozzle system with a great efficiency and up to 200 bar water pressure are mounted to the machine. They are suitable for flooding aircraft stands, as well assisting with oil removal. Furthermore, the Schmidt ASC 990 includes a detergent tank. The detergent-water cleansing emulsion is used to moisten the dirty area. As the surface is moistened the centrally mounted disc brushes are used for scrubbing before the dirt can be swept into the hopper. “London Stansted took delivery of its first Schmidt/Scania vehicle back in the year 2011, and today we value the marque for its reliability and dependability,” says Airside Operations Duty Manager, Giles Peeters.
“Essentially, our Schmidt equipment helps us do our job – which is to keep the airport operational – by being operator-friendly vehicles which are always ready for service. Their reliability has proved to be exceptional over the years, and their ease of use together with the commonality of controls between the various models types in the fleet make them a popular choice with our operators. The addition of the new Schmidt ASC 990 multifunctional sweeper will further enhance our ability to provide the best possible service to the airlines and travelling public using the airport.”
