14.5 million passengers travelled through London Luton Airport (LLA) last year, making it the fourth largest airport in the UK. The annual passenger capacity will grow up to 18 million until 2020. At LLA an airport sweeper and a Swingo, both from Schmidt, are already in use. “We have a relationship going back almost 20 years, so we know the levels of reliability and customer care we can expect“, says Liam Bolger, responsible for all airside operations at LLA. “We wanted a medium-size sweeper that was manoeuvrable and easy to operate. The Street King 660 has ticked all our boxes“. But also the team is thrilled with the mounted sweeper thanks to the Evolution Smart (ES) operating concept. No wonder: the 7in colour touch screen of the operating technology is not only easy to use, intuitive and completely flexible but its simplicity reduces training to a minimum.
The Schmidt Street King 660 will be used mainly to sweep the airport’s terminal frontage, car parks and roadways. Thanks to the high suction power, the large-capacity hopper and the large water tank the truck-mounted sweeper will be fulfilling its task with high efficiency even by extended operations.
Furthermore, the ideal coverage of disc brushes, feeder brush and suction nozzle ensures optimum sweeping results even when cornering. Richard Bryant, Managing Director of Aebi Schmidt UK confirms: “The new Street King 660 sweeps faster, misses less, works longer and allows the operator to drive faster, making it the perfect partner for tackling a job of this nature – as the team at LLA has now discovered.”
We wish the team of the London Luton airport always a good and safe ride.
